KETAMINE-ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an option for individuals living with depression, anxiety, or trauma-related symptoms that haven’t improved with traditional treatment.

KAP combines low-dose ketamine with intentional psychotherapy to create space for emotional processing, insight, and meaningful change. In a supportive therapeutic setting, ketamine may temporarily soften rigid patterns of thinking, allowing therapy to reach deeper layers of experience.

ME Psychotherapy offers KAP sessions in both our Providence and Narragansett offices.

Who KAP May Help

KAP may be appropriate for individuals experiencing:

  • Treatment-resistant depression

  • Persistent anxiety

  • Trauma-related symptoms

  • Feeling “stuck” in therapy

A thoughtful clinical and medical evaluation determines whether this approach is a good fit.

How KAP Works at ME Psychotherapy

We offer KAP through a collaborative care model designed to keep both the therapeutic and medical components clear, coordinated, and safe.

ME Psychotherapy provides the psychotherapy sessions in our Providence and Narragansett offices. Medical evaluation, prescribing, and medication oversight are managed by an independent external prescriber, PVD Ketamine & Wellness. ME Psychotherapy does not prescribe, dispense, or store ketamine.

Step 1: Book A Free 10-Min Phone Consultation With A KAP Provider @ ME Psychotherapy

You schedule your phone consultation directly with ME Psychotherapy, via our website if you are new client or by contacting us at office@mepsychotherapy.com if you are a current client.

If KAP seems like it could be an option, the next step is:

  • Contacting PVD Ketamine & Wellness to schedule a medical evaluation

Step 2: Schedule A Medical Evaluation With PVD Ketamine

You then schedule your medical evaluation directly with PVD Ketamine & Wellness.

They:

  • Determine whether ketamine is medically appropriate

  • Establish your prescribing plan

  • Review their fees and follow-up requirements

All medical questions, prescribing schedules, and related costs are handled directly through their office.

Step 3: Schedule Your Intake & KAP Sessions @ ME Psychotherapy

Once you are medically cleared and your prescription is in place, you reconnect with your provider at ME Psychotherapy to schedule your clinical intake assessment and KAP sessions.

After your medical evaluation:

  • Your prescription is sent to a pharmacy

  • You pick up the medication prior to your session

  • You bring your prescribed ketamine to each KAP appointment

Step 4: Your KAP Sessions Begin @ ME Psychotherapy

During your in person therapy session:

  • Ketamine is taken only in session, under supervision

  • Vital signs are monitored before and after treatment

  • You remain onsite until it is clinically appropriate to leave

  • A responsible adult transports you home afterward

The process is structured but straightforward. We guide you through each step so you feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout.
